You receive a "Stop error code 0x000000D1" message when you back up data to a tape device on a computer that is running Windows Server 2003, Windows XP, or Windows 2000

SYMPTOMS

When you back up data to a tape device on a computer that has a MegaRAID controller and that is running Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Microsoft Windows XP, or Microsoft Windows 2000, you receive a Stop error message that is similar to the following:
Stop 0x000000D1 (parameter1, parameter2, parameter3, parameter4)
Scsiport.sys

CAUSE

This issue occurs if the tape device is connected to the MegaRAID controller and the firmware for the MegaRAID controller overwrites certain data that the miniport driver uses.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, contact your hardware vendor to obtain an appropriate firmware update for the MegaRAID controller.
