SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft SQL Server 2000, when you use Data Transformation Services (DTS) to create a Dynamic Properties task and you add an .ini file that contains more than 254 characters in section names, the section names are truncated to a total length of 254 characters. Therefore, one of the section names in the Section list may be truncated, and the remaining section names will not be displayed.

If you try to set the section name to the truncated section name in the Section list, the following symptoms occur:
  • The key name is not displayed in the Key list.
  • You receive the following error message when you click OK:
    No key name provided.
Additionally, if you set the section name manually in code by using the SourceIniFileSection property and then try to run the DTS package, you may receive the following error message:
Section 'YourSourceiniFileSection' not found.
