On This PageSYMPTOMSYour Microsoft Windows 2000 Server-based computer crashes and you receive the following Stop error message:
STOP 0x0000001a (0x00041284, 0x797d6000, 0x000331ba, 0xc0881000) CAUSE This problem may occur if Physical Address Extensions (PAE) is enabled on your computer and you are running a PAE-aware program. If PAE is enabled, the virtual memory manager may split a page table entry (PTE) read operation into two unsynchronized 4-byte read operations. This split may cause PTE corruption to occur. RESOLUTIONHotfix informationA supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.If the hotfix is available for download, there is a "Hotfix download available" section at the top of this Knowledge Base article. If this section does not appear, submit a request to Microsoft Customer Service and Support to obtain the hotfix.
