On This PageSYMPTOMSWhen you remount a volume, your Microsoft Windows 2000 Server-based computer restarts, and you receive a 0xA Stop error in the Ntfs.sys file. CAUSEThis problem occurs if some information is not correctly cleaned up by the NTFS file system when you dismount a volume. When you try to remount the volume, the information that was not correctly cleaned up is used. Therefore, the 0xA Stop error occurs. Note When a volume is dismounted, the NTFS file system cleans up information about the volume. RESOLUTIONHotfix informationA supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.If the hotfix is available for download, there is a "Hotfix download available" section at the top of this Knowledge Base article. If this section does not appear, submit a request to Microsoft Customer Service and Support to obtain the hotfix.
