You receive the following error message in the Application log on the MOM 2005 server: Failed to send SMTP message. The message could not be sent to the SMTP server. The transport error code was 0x80040217. The server response was not available hr=-2147220975 CAUSEBy default, MOM 2005 uses NTLM to authenticate the SMTP server that is listed in the E-mail Server global settings in the MOM 2005 Administrator console before MOM 2005 sends the e-mail notification response. If the SMTP server does not support NTLM authentication or is configured to accept anonymous authentication, you receive the error message that is mentioned in the "Symptoms" section.
