When you upgrade to Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2), you may find that some Independent Hardware Vendor (IHV) drivers or some Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) drivers are replaced with Microsoft versions of the drivers. Sometimes, this change may cause problems. For example, when you resume your computer from standby, your computer may stop responding.
This problem may occur with some hardware if you upgrade to Windows XP SP2 by using the /n switch. When you use the /n switch, Update.exe may unexpectedly replace IHV drivers or OEM drivers with Microsoft drivers.
To resolve this problem, install the latest drivers for your hardware. To obtain the latest drivers for your hardware, contact the manufacturer. For information about your hardware manufacturer, visit the following Web site:
