or Microsoft Windows 2000 Server, a bridged printer
connection that you created occasionally stops working. In Windows Server 2003
and in Windows 2000 Server, you can create a connection
to a printer that is shared on a Microsoft Windows 98-based client computer.
You can then share this printer connection to other client computers. This
configures a "bridged connection" between the client computers in your
organization and the shared printer. CAUSEThis problem occurs if one of the following conditions is
true:
There is a problem in the Windows Server 2003 and Windows 2000 Server component that handles remote printer name caching. This problem appears in a scenario where you configure bridged printer connections. RESOLUTIONWindows Server 2003Hotfix informationA supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next software update that contains this hotfix.If the hotfix is available for download, there is a "Hotfix download available" section at the top of this Knowledge Base article.
