Session Summary

Thursday, November 18, 2004

The Support WebCast will discuss the basics of connection pooling in Microsoft .NET Framework. It will include a brief overview of unmanaged pooling, the common problems that may occur when migrating from Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0 to the .NET Framework, some best practices, and the tools that can help determine why connection leaks occur.

This is a Level 100 (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=gp;en-us;webcastlevels&sd=gn) session presented by Malcolm Stewart and Brian Nash.

Malcolm Stewart is a 25-year veteran in the information technology field, with the last 12 supporting database developers for Microsoft. He was on the beta of Access 2.0 and the .NET Framework 1.0. Malcolm is the author of the ADO.NET Roadmap Knowledge Base articles.

Brian Nash has been a technical lead in the Webdata group since 1998. Before that, he was a support engineer in the Visual FoxPro group. Before joining Microsoft, he was a Senior Systems Engineer with SHL SystemHouse based in Ottawa.
