FIX: "Could not convert the data value due to reasons other than sign mismatch or overflow" error message when you use the ADSI OLE DB provider to retrieve I8 data type properties in Windows Server 2003Article ID: 887474 - View products that this article applies to. On This PageSYMPTOMSWhen you use the Active Directory Services Interface (ADSI) OLE DB provider in a Microsoft SQL Server stored procedure to retrieve I8 data type properties, you may receive the following error message:
Could not get the data of the row from the OLE DB provider 'ADSDSOObject'. Could not convert the data value due to reasons other than sign mismatch or overflow.
CAUSEThe ADSI OLE DB provider represents I8 fields by using a DBTYPE_VARIANT(IDispatch) data type and does not convert the I8 data type to a string. SQL Server requires the provider to convert a VARIANT data type to a WSTR data type. Note An I8 data type is represented in eight bytes. The I8 data type is a number with 19-digit precision. The value range is from -9,223,372,036,854,775,808 to 9,223,372,036,854,775,807. RESOLUTIONHotfix informationA supported hotfix is available from Microsoft.
