INTRODUCTION

This article describes the Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 issues that are fixed in the Outlook 2003 post-Service Pack 1 hotfix package that is dated November 2, 2004.

Issues that the hotfix package fixes

This hotfix package fixes the following issue:

You receive an "Error while archiving folder" error message when you try to AutoArchive your Outlook data in Outlook 2003

This hotfix package also fixes the following issues that were not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article:

When you try to view the properties of a replicated child folder to manage it, you receive the following error message:
Can't display folder properties. The contents of this public folder are currently unavailable. Either the Microsoft Exchange Server computer servicing this public folder is down or the public folder has not been replicated to this site. See your administrator.
This issue occurs when all the following conditions are true:
- You have multiple sites and multiple servers in your organization.
- You replicate a child folder without replicating the parent folder.
- You are the owner of the child folder.
Note This issue may occur even when you are logged on to a public folder that only contains the replicated child folder.
When you check the spelling of Hungarian language text and a word is flagged as misspelled in a sentence, only words that start with an uppercase letter are suggested replacements for the misspelled word.
If you delete a Contacts folder, the folder is not removed from the Address Book. For example, if you create a new e-mail message, and then click To to address the e-mail message, the Show names from the list in the Select Names dialog box still shows the deleted Contacts folder.
After you create a custom view that includes the Group by option, if you change views to a different view and then switch back to your custom view, the Group by option is not retained. This issue may occur when all the following conditions are true:
- You view a folder, such as your Inbox, in your custom view.
- You switch to a different view in the same folder.
- You switch back to your custom view.

The optimized version of this hotfix is a post-Office 2003 Service Pack 1 (SP1) hotfix. To install the hotfix, you must have Office 2003 SP1 installed.

Description of Office 2003 Service Pack 1
The full-file version of this hotfix is also the administrative version of this hotfix. You can install this version of the hotfix on a computer that is running Office 2003 with Office 2003 SP1 installed or on a computer that is running Office 2003 without Office 2003 SP1 installed. However, we have tested this hotfix more extensively on a computer that is running Office 2003 with Office 2003 SP1 installed than we have on a computer that is running Office 2003 without Office 2003 SP1 installed. If you install this hotfix on a computer that is running Office 2003 without Office 2003 SP1 installed, some file conflicts might occur. We support this configuration, but we do not recommend this configuration.

Restart information

You do not have to restart your computer after you apply this hotfix.

Hotfix replacement information

This hotfix is not replaced by any later hotfix.
