Description of the SharePoint Portal Server 2003 post-Service Pack 1 hotfix package: October 22, 2004

This article describes the SharePoint Portal Server 2003 issues that are fixed in the SharePoint Portal Server 2003 post-Service Pack 1 hotfix package that is dated October 22, 2004.

Issues that the hotfix package fixes

This hotfix package fixes the following issue:

• 887712  (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/887712/ ) The URL of an item that is returned in the search results does not work when you search SharePoint Portal Server 2003 for content that is stored in Microsoft Commerce Server

This hotfix package also fixes the following issue that was not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article:

• Members are missing from an audience after you compile an audience
  
  You create an audience in SharePoint Portal Server 2003, and then you compile the audience. When you click View Membership to view the members of the new audience that you created, members are missing from that audience.
  
  This problem occurs if all the following conditions are true:
  • You add a rule for the audience that uses the User operand and the Member of operator.
  • The value that you specify for the rule is a Windows security group.
  • The Windows security group contains a user whose full name in Active Directory directory service contains a forward slash character (/).
  SharePoint Portal Server 2003 incorrectly processes the compile operation. The user whose name contains a forward slash character is not added to the audience. Additionally, other users who are members of that same Windows security group are also not added to the audience.
  
  You also experience these symptoms if an issue occurs with a member of the Windows security group that prevents that user from being added to the audience. In this situation, other members of that same Windows security group are also not added to the audience.

Service pack information

This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal Server 2003 Service Pack 2.
