SYMPTOMS

When you try to add a small computer system interface (SCSI) device or a Peripheral Component Interconnect (PCI) storage device to a computer that is running Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2), a Stop 0x00000050 error may occur in Scsiport.sys.

RESOLUTION

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing.
