On This PageSYMPTOMSYou remove a user from an Active Directory Network Information Service (NIS) group that contains UNIX attributes in Microsoft Windows Services for UNIX 3.5. When you run the ypcat command, the user logon names for any remaining user accounts in that group are replaced with the full names. This problem occurs if the full name contains special characters such as the opening parenthesis ((), the closing parenthesis ()), and the asterisk (*). For example, you have a user account where the full name is "Jones, David" and where the user logon name is "djones." When you remove another user from the NIS group, the ypcat command returns "Jones, David" instead of "djones" as the user logon name. RESOLUTIONHotfix informationA supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.If the hotfix is available for download, there is a "Hotfix download available" section at the top of this Knowledge Base article.
