INTRODUCTION

This article describes the Microsoft Outlook 2002 issue that is fixed in the Outlook 2002 post-Service Pack 3 hotfix package that is dated November 12, 2004.

Issue that the hotfix package fixes

This hotfix package fixes the following issue. It was not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
  • You cannot import e-mail messages into your mailbox when you use Outlook 2002. When you try, you receive the following message:

  • 0 of n messages imported.

The letter n in the example stands for the number of messages that you are trying to import.

This issue occurs when your mailbox has reached the size limit for messages. When you try to import more messages into a full mailbox in Outlook 2002, you do not receive an error message. Additionally, your Microsoft Exchange Server computer will create a transaction log that will quickly grow larger every time that you try to import messages into a full mailbox.
