Description of the SharePoint Portal Server 2003 post-Service Pack 1 hotfix package: November 23, 2004

This article describes the SharePoint Portal Server 2003 issues that are fixed in the SharePoint Portal Server 2003 post-Service Pack 1 hotfix package that is dated November 23, 2004.

Issues that the hotfix package fixes

This hotfix package fixes the following issue:

• 890052  (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/890052/ ) Some documents are not returned in the search results when you use the Advanced Search feature in SharePoint Portal Server 2003 to search for content that has a custom property

This hotfix package also fixes the following issue. This issue was not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article.

• Portal listings that are returned in the search results display an incorrect date
  
  When you search the portal site for content, an incorrect date is displayed for portal listings that are returned in the search results. The date that is displayed is not the date that the listings were last modified. Instead, the date that is displayed is the date when the last user was added to the portal site.
  
  For example, you experience this problem in the following scenario:
  1. You search the portal site for the word "headline" (without the quotation marks). The following listing is returned in the search results:
     Welcome to Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal Server 2003
     The correct date of the listing is displayed. It is the date that the portal site was created.
  2. You add a new user to the portal site, and then you update the content index.
  3. You search the portal site for the word "headline." The date of the Welcome to Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal Server 2003 listing that is returned in the search results is displayed incorrectly as Today.
  The SharePoint Portal Server 2003 protocol handler incorrectly processes the last modified date of the portal listing.

Service pack information

This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal Server 2003 Service Pack 2.
