This article describes a program error that can have the following error signatures:

SYMPTOMS

When you copy text from a Web page and then paste the text to a Microsoft Office Word 2003 document, Word 2003 may unexpectedly quit, and you receive an error message that is similar to the following:
Microsoft Office Word has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

Please tell Microsoft about this problem.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, disable the Show Paste Options buttons option in Word 2003. To do this, follow these steps:
1.Start Word 2003.
2.On the Tools menu, click Options.
3.On the Edit tab, click to clear the Show Paste Options buttons check box under Cut and paste options.
4.Click OK to close the Options dialog box.

The Office Error Reporting dialog box appears when an error occurs that causes a fatal event in the program. The dialog box includes a button to send the information about the fatal event to Microsoft. Microsoft gathers information about these types of events in a database to try to identify the cause.
