SYMPTOMS

Memory usage increases on a device while you play long media files by using Microsoft Windows Media Player in Microsoft Windows CE 5.0. After the media file plays for more than one hour, the memory usage significantly increases.

Software update information

A supported software update is now available from Microsoft as Windows CE 5.0 Core OS QFE 890935. To resolve this problem immediately, click the following article number for information about obtaining Windows CE Platform Builder and core operating system software updates:

Prerequisites

This update requires all previous updates for Microsoft Windows CE 5.0. This update is supported only if all previous updates are installed.

Restart requirement

After you apply this update, you must perform a clean build of the whole platform. To clean the platform, click Clean on the Build menu. To build the platform, click Build Platform on the Build menu.

Note The MaxStreamerMessages value can be set to any value. The suggested value is 100.
