A deadlock may occur between the SetSystemPowerState function and the ExtEscape function

SYMPTOMS

When a user opens the clam shell of a device to receive an incoming call, a white screen may be displayed. The device does not respond to user input, such as pressing buttons or pressing the touch screen.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the SetSystemPowerState function and the ExtEscape function may sometimes cause a deadlock when the functions are called by device drivers or by applications.

RESOLUTION

Software update information

Prerequisites

This update is supported only if all previously issued updates for this product have also been installed.

Restart requirement

After you install this update, you must perform a clean build of the whole platform. To clean the platform, click Clean on the Build menu. To build the platform, click Build Platform on the Build menu. You do not have to restart your computer after you apply this update.
