This article describes the Visio 2003 issue that is fixed in the Visio 2003 post-Service Pack 1 hotfix package that is dated February 8, 2005.

Issue that the hotfix package fixes

This hotfix package fixes the following issue that was not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article:

In large drawings, the magnification level that you can zoom in to is limited

When you work with large drawings in Visio 2003, you find that the magnification level that you can zoom in to is limited. For example, if your drawing is more than 340 inches wide or more than 340 inches long, you cannot increase the magnification level to 100 percent or more.

This limitation was present in earlier versions of Visio to support Microsoft Windows Graphics Device Interface (GDI) on computers that are running Microsoft Windows 98.

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Additional notes:

After you install the hotfix that is described in this article, you may experience a decrease in performance when you use high magnification levels. For example, you may experience a decrease in performance when you zoom the drawing to 400 percent. The decrease in performance that you experience depends on system resources, the size of your drawing, and the complexity of your drawing.
