Description of the SharePoint Portal Server 2003 post-Service Pack 1 hotfix package (Microsoft.SharePoint.Portal.dll): January 4, 2005

This article describes the SharePoint Portal Server 2003 issue that is fixed in the SharePoint Portal Server 2003 post-Service Pack 1 hotfix package that is dated January 4, 2005.

Issue that the hotfix package fixes

This hotfix package fixes the following issue that was not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article:

• The value of the LinkUrl property in the XML output that is returned by the Search Web service is incorrectly formatted
  
  The value of the LinkUrl property in the XML output that is returned by the Search Web service in SharePoint Portal Server 2003 is not Unicode Transmission Format-8 (UTF-8) encoded. Other text in the output is UTF-8 encoded as expected. For example, the name of a document in a document library contains one or more high ASCII characters. When you use the Search Web service to search for that document, the value of the LinkUrl property in the XML output that is returned by the Search Web service is incorrectly formatted.

Service pack information

This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal Server 2003 Service Pack 2.
