The updated Storport storage driver, version 5.2.3790.274, fixes various Storport-related problems in Windows Server 2003

SYMPTOMS

When you use the Microsoft Storport storage driver for your host bus adapter (HBA) removable storage, you may experience one or more of the following symptoms:

A memory leak occurs after an adapter is surprise removed.

When you surprise remove a StorPort-supported adapter, up to 4 MB of non-paged Kernel mode memory may not be released.
A STOP D1 error occurs when an adapter is removed.

The Storport process has a list of adapters that it manages. When adapters are created, they are added to the list. The Adapter List points to memory that is freed or reallocated. However, when an adapter is removed, the Storport process does not correctly update the list of adapters. Therefore, a STOP D1 error or memory corruption may occur.
The fiber channel bus type is incorrectly used.

By default, the Storport process may incorrectly use the fiber channel bus type. The BusTypeScsi bus type setting is incorrectly ignored. The fiber channel bus type is represented by the BusTypeFibre setting. The SCSI bus type is represented by the BusTypeScsi setting.

STATUS
