Publications are not individually collated and stapled when you use the mail merge feature to print in Publisher 2003, Publisher 2002 or in Publisher 2000
On This PageSYMPTOMSYou use the mail merge feature in Microsoft Publisher to print your publications. You print a mail merge publication that is made up of individual publications such as letters. You print to a printer that can perform collating and stapling all in a single task. Your publications are not individually collated and stapled. Instead, they are collated and stapled as one publication in batches of ten. CAUSEThis issue occurs because Publisher sends the publications as one print job, instead of sending separate print jobs for each publication. The printer cannot distinguish the end of one publication from the start of another publication. WORKAROUNDTo work around this issue, print each record of your mail merge publication separately. To do this, use one of the following methods. Note Some of the following methods are for specific versions of Publisher. Use the method that is appropriate for the version of Publisher that you are using. Method 1: Change the number of records for each batch in the registryWarning Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly by using Registry Editor or by using another method. These problems might require that you reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that these problems can be solved. Modify the registry at your own risk.Note Use Method 1 if you are using Microsoft Publisher 2002 or Microsoft Office Publisher 2003. Microsoft Publisher 2002
