SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario. You add a public folder to the Favorite Folders pane in Microsoft Outlook. You notice that an incorrect number of unread items is displayed for the public folder. To resolve the problem, you install the hotfix that is described in the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article:

Then, you run the following command to repair any inconsistencies:
isinteg -s servername -test folder -fix
In this scenario, an incorrect number of unread items is still displayed for the public folder in the Favorite Folders pane. For example, the number of unread items may be displayed as one or more even though there are no unread items in the public folder.

RESOLUTION

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next software update that contains this hotfix.
