SYMPTOMS

When you use the BinaryFormatter class or the SoapFormatter class to serialize an object in the Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1, errors may occur. The errors occur when the previously serialized object is deserialized.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because serialization preserves the object layout in a specific order. When the same object is deserialized, the changes to the object layout and to the order of the objects may cause errors to occur.
