On This PageSYMPTOMSIn the Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1, generation 1 garbage collections and generation 2 garbage collections occur much more frequently on computers that have 4 gigabytes (GB) or more of physical memory than on computers that have 2 GB of physical memory. CAUSEThis problem occurs because the GlobalMemoryStatus function that the garbage collection uses is not designed for computers that have more than 2 GB of physical memory. RESOLUTIONHotfix informationA supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next software update that contains this hotfix.
