Here is information about what versions of SQL Server 2000 can be
used with specific Microsoft Windows operating systems.
- Unless stated otherwise in the SQL Server 2000 system
requirements, all editions of the English version of SQL Server 2000 are
supported on all localized versions of supported Microsoft Windows operating
systems.
For example, the U.S. English version of the Microsoft SQL
Server 2000 Desktop Engine (also known as MSDE 2000) is supported on the
Japanese version of Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional Service Pack 4
(SP4). - Localized versions of SQL Server 2000 are supported on the
same localized version of supported Windows operating systems.
For
example, the Swedish version of MSDE 2000 is supported on the Swedish version
of Windows 2000 Professional SP4. - Localized versions of SQL Server 2000 are "not" supported
on the U.S. English version of Windows with the Multilingual User Interface
Pack (MUI).
For example, the Portuguese (Brazil) version of SQL Server
2000 Service Pack 3a (SP3a) Standard Edition is "not" supported on the U.S.
English version of Microsoft Windows Server 2003 in Portuguese (Brazil) MUI
mode. - Installations of different language versions of SQL Server
instances on the same computer are "not" supported.
For example, the
Spanish version of SQL Server 2000 SP3a Standard Edition and the Simplified
Chinese version of SQL Server 2000 SP3a are not supported as multiple instances
on the same computer.
