Session Summary

Tuesday, March 15, 2005

This is a Level 200 (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=gp;en-us;webcastlevels&sd=gn) session presented by Kalpit Jain.

Microsoft Application Compatibility Toolkit 4.0 (ACT 4.0) is a set of tools and documentation that help you evaluate your application compatibility needs specifically on Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2). The WebCast describes how to use ACT 4.0 as part of a comprehensive deployment strategy in three primary phases: evaluation, mitigation, and deployment. We will provide step-by-step instruction in how to collect application inventory, evaluate issues related to DCOM, Windows Firewall, and Internet Explorer, obtain up-to-date data from Microsoft online services, mitigate issues by using automation, and deploy the fix package. The WebCast also discusses new features in ACT 4.0 such as the SMS integration and the mitigation tool.
