SYMPTOMS

You have configured a Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server 2004, Standard Edition computer to save log data to a Microsoft SQL Server database. However, the daily summary and the log report do not contain details of network traffic that passes through the computer.

Note You will not experience this symptom if you have configured ISA Server to save log data in a log file or in a SQL Server Desktop Engine (MSDE) database.

RESOLUTION

Service pack information

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Internet Security and Acceleration Server 2004. For more information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. The English version of this hotfix has the file attributes (or later file attributes) that are listed in the following table. The dates and times for these files are listed in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. To find the difference between UTC and local time, use the Time Zone tab in the Date and Time tool in Control Panel.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section. This problem was first corrected in Internet Security and Acceleration Server 2004 Service Pack 2.

Warning Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly by using Registry Editor or by using another method. These problems might require that you reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that these problems can be solved. Modify the registry at your own risk.

If the ISA Server computer experiences high network traffic, add the DatabaseQueryTimeout entry to the registry. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
  2. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Fpc\Reports
  3. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
  4. Type DatabaseQueryTimeout, and then press ENTER.
  5. Right-click DatabaseQueryTimeout, click Modify, and then click Decimal.
  6. In the Value Data box, type the number of seconds that you want to wait before a time-out occurs.
  7. Quit Registry Editor.
Note If you do not set a value for the DatabaseQueryTimeout registry entry, ISA Server sets the default value as 15 seconds.
