An Office update does not appear to be installed after you install the updateArticle ID: 895618 - View products that this article applies to. On This PageSYMPTOMSA Microsoft Office update does not appear to be installed after you install the update. Consider the following scenario. You install an Office update and then restart your computer. When you scan your computer by using the Microsoft Office Update Web site, the Office Update Web site still offers the Office update that you installed. CAUSEThis issue may occur because the Office Update Web site is not designed to correctly detect the version of Office if the following conditions are true on the computer that is scanned:
WORKAROUNDTo work around this issue, use one of the following methods. Method 1: Use the Office Update Web siteTo use the Office Update Web site to work around this issue, install the latest Office service pack. When you use the Office Update Web site to install the latest Office service pack, binary update installation and detection and full-file update installation and detection are supported for the current version of the Office program. Note Use this method only if you installed Office from an original Office installation CD or from an original release version-level administrative installation point. Do not use this method if you installed Office from an updated administrative installation point on your network. Method 2: Check the version number of the Office programTo determine whether the Office update is installed, check the version number of the Office program before and after you install the update. If the version number is later than the version number that was listed before you installed the update, the update is installed.Note Sometimes, an update does not change the core Office files. Additionally, the documented techniques for how to check the version number of the Office program may not confirm the installation of the update. In this scenario, see the Microsoft Knowledge Base article for your version of Office to verify installation of the update. Method 3: Use the Office administrative installation pointNote You cannot use an Office administration installation point to resolve this issue in 2007 Microsoft Office. To use the Office administrative installation point, the administrative installation point must be updated to the correct update level before you reinstall Office on your computer. To make sure that the administrative installation point is updated to the correct update level, contact your network administrator before you reinstall Office.
