You receive a "Installation Error: File not Found" error message when you try to convert the Office 2003 trial program to the full product version of Office 2003

When you try to convert your Microsoft Office 2003 trial program to the full product version (retail version) of Microsoft Office 2003 by using the Convert option, you receive the following error message: Note The Pa561401.cab file is the file that is most frequently referenced in the filename.cab placeholder of this error message.

This issue may occur if one of the following conditions is true:

• The source files are missing from the following folder:
  drive:\MSOCache\All Users\90000409-6000-11D3-8CFE-0150048383C9
• The following folder was deleted:
  drive\MSOCache

To work around this issue, provide the original source that you used to install the program the first time. For example, when you receive the error message that is mentioned in the "Symptoms" section, insert your original Office 2003 program CD-ROM that you used to install the Office 2003 trial program, and then click OK.

Sometimes, you may not have the original installation CD-ROM. You may not have an original installation CD-ROM if one of the following conditions is true:

• If the Office 2003 trial program has been preinstalled on your computer by your computer manufacturer.
• If you installed the Office 2003 trial program from the following Microsoft Web site.

To work around this issue if the Office 2003 trial program CD-ROM is not available, use one of the following methods.

Method 1: How to convert the Microsoft Office Standard Edition 2003 trial program

If you are converting the Microsoft Office Standard Edition 2003 trial program, follows these steps:

1. Verify that you can locate the Microsoft Office Product Key that you used to start the process of converting the program.
2. Remove the existing installation of the Office 2003 trial program. To do this, follow these steps:
   1. Quit all Office 2003 programs.
   2. Click Start, click Control Panel, and then click Add or Remove Programs.
   3. In the Currently installed programs list, click Microsoft Office 2003, and then click Remove.
   4. Follow the instructions to remove the Office 2003 trial program from your computer.
3. Download the Microsoft Office Standard Edition 2003 60-Day Trial version.
4. Install the Office Standard 2003 trial version, and then provide the Office Product Key that you located in step 1 instead of the Office Product Key that is provided on the Web page that is referenced in step 3.
5. Start the Office Standard 2003 trial program, and then start the product license when you are prompted.
   
   Note If the retail Product Key was used during the installation, it is not required to convert to a retail license because this step was completed during the installation.

Method 2: Request an expedited shipment of the CD-ROM

If Method 1 is not a workable option, you can request an expedited shipment of the Office 2003 CD-ROM by sending an e-mail message to the following address: You must include the following information in your e-mail message:

• The following text in the e-mail message Subject box:
  Office 2003 Trial Conversion Failure
• Your order number from the online order for a retail Product Key.
• Your e-mail address.
• Your first and last name.
• The reason for the CD-ROM request.

Note When you purchase a retail Product Key online, a CD-ROM is shipped as part of your order. By sending this request, the priority of your order is changed to High, and the CD-ROM will be shipped to you more quickly than it would with a typical priority setting.

When you install an Office 2003 program, the Setup program copies the source files of the Office 2003 program to the following folder on an available local hard disk drive: Note A low disk space issue will prevent this feature from working.
