INTRODUCTION

This article describes the Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2003 issue that is fixed in the PowerPoint 2003 post-Service Pack 1 hotfix package that is dated March 28, 2005.

The issue that the hotfix package fixes

This hotfix package fixes the following issue that was not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
  • When you click a hyperlink in a slide show presentation in PowerPoint 2003, you may receive the following error message:
    A security problem has occurred.
    This issue may occur if the following conditions are true:
    • The Warn if changing between secure and not secure mode check box is selected in the Internet Properties dialog box. To determine whether the Warn if changing between secure and not secure mode check box is selected, follow these steps:
      1. Click Start, click Control Panel, and then click Network and Internet Connections.
      2. Click Internet Options.
      3. Click the Advanced tab.

        The Warn if changing between secure and not secure mode check box appears under Security.
    • You perform one of the following tasks during the slide show presentation:
      • You change from a Web site that is secure to a Web site that is not secure.
      • You change from a Web site that is secure to a Web site that is not secure.

This problem was first corrected in Office 2003 Service Pack 2.

Prerequisites

  • The optimized version of this hotfix is a post-Microsoft Office 2003 Service Pack 1 (SP1) hotfix. To install the hotfix, you must have Office 2003 SP1 installed.

  • The full-file version of this hotfix is also the administrative version of this hotfix. You can install this version of the hotfix on a computer that is running Office 2003 with Office 2003 SP1 installed or on a computer that is running Office 2003 without Office 2003 SP1 installed. However, we have tested this hotfix more extensively on a computer that is running Office 2003 with Office 2003 SP1 installed than we have on a computer that is running Office 2003 without Office 2003 SP1 installed. If you install this hotfix on a computer that is running Office 2003 without Office 2003 SP1 installed, some file conflicts might occur. We support this configuration, but we do not recommend this configuration.

Restart information

You do not have to restart your computer after you apply this hotfix.

Hotfix replacement information

This hotfix is not replaced by any later hotfix.

You do not have to create or modify any registry keys to activate any hotfixes that this package contains.
