INTRODUCTION

This article describes the Microsoft Word 2002 issues that are fixed in the Word 2002 post-Service Pack 3 (SP3) hotfix package that is dated April 4, 2005.

Issues that are fixed by the hotfix package

The following issues are also fixed in this hotfix package but were not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
  • Consider the following scenario:
    1. You create a document in Word 2002, and then you format the document to have multiple columns.
    2. You insert a table that spans from the last column on one page to the first column on the next page.
    3. On this page, you insert a second table that spans from bottom of the first column to the top of the second column.
When you print this document, the text in the second table in the first column is printed, but the text in the second table that flows into the second column on the page is not printed. When this behavior occurs, a blank space appears instead of the table text in the second column.
  • You open a Word 2002 document that includes text boxes, and then you click to clear the White space between pages check box on the View tab of the Options dialog box. When you print the document or use Print Preview to view the document, you notice that the text boxes in the document have changed position on the page. Additionally, the text in these text boxes now appears outside the text boxes.

This issue occurs when you click Vertical text flow on the Document Grid tab of the Page Setup dialog box.
