Issues that the hotfix package fixes

This hotfix package fixes the following issue:
  • 896987 When you run a VBA macro that uses the Range.Copy or the Range.Paste method on a Range object in Word 2003, the macro does not complete, and you receive an error message
This hotfix package also fixes the following issues that were not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article:

This issue may occur when you use Word 2003 as your e-mail editor in Microsoft Office Outlook 2003.
  • When you try to open a document (document A) in Word 2003 that has been inserted as a linked file in another document (document B), the document (document A) does not open. Additionally, Word 2003 may stop responding.

    • In document B, you insert document A as a linked file in a table.
    • With the field codes turned off in document B, you type some text in the link field that is contained in the table.
    • You update the links in document B.
