FIX: You may experience poor playback performance when you pause an MPEG1 video stream for a long time and then resume playback in Windows CE 5.0

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Windows CE 5.0, if you play an MPEG1 video stream from Microsoft Media Server and then you pause the video stream for a long time, you may experience poor playback performance when playback is resumed.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the available bandwidth is calculated from the time that the video was started. When you pause the video, the calculation by the filtergraph reports a problem and then tells the server to slow down the video stream. A filtergraph is a Directshow component that converts input from one format to another. In this case, the filtergraph sends messages back to the server to pause the stream.

Prerequisites

This software update is supported only if all previously issued software updates for this product have also been installed.

Restart requirement

After you install this software update, you must perform a clean build of the whole platform. To clean the platform, click Clean on the Build menu. To build the platform, click Build Platform on the Build menu. You do not have to restart your computer after you apply this software update.
