SYMPTOMSAfter you install Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 (SP1), you cannot successfully run the Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 Exchange Server Deployment Tools from a network share. When you try to run the Exchange Server Deployment Tools from a network share, an empty Exchange Server Deployment Tools window is displayed. The window contains the Back, Forward, and Home buttons. However, there is no effect when you click any one of these buttons. The information that is typically contained in the first window of the Exchange Server Deployment Tools wizard is missing. You experience these symptoms when you use one of the following methods to run the Exchange Server Deployment Tools:
CAUSEA security enhancement in Windows Server 2003 SP1 mandates that the ExDeploy.hta program can be run only from the Local Machine Zone. Therefore, the ExDeploy.hta program cannot be run over a network. WORKAROUNDTo work around this issue, run the Exchange Server Deployment Tools locally on the server.
