On This PageSYMPTOMSWhen you run Microsoft COM+ or Microsoft Component Object Model (COM) server-side programs and COM+ or COM client-side programs on a Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2)-based computer, you may receive an error message from the client that is similar to the following: 0x800706f7 The stub received bad data. CAUSEThis problem occurs because the FADF_BSTR fFeature field flag is not set correctly in the SafeArray method on the client computer even though the array element type is set as VT_BSTR. RESOLUTIONHotfix informationA supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next software update that contains this hotfix.If the hotfix is available for download, there is a "Hotfix download available" section at the top of this Knowledge Base article.
