The slide show appears in the original screen orientation in PowerPoint 2003 or in PowerPoint 2007 when you rotate the screen orientation to portrait orientation

You are using a Tablet PC. You rotate the screen orientation from landscape orientation to portrait orientation. When you view a slide show in Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2003 or in Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007, the slide show does not rotate. The slide show appears in the original screen orientation instead of appearing in portrait orientation.

This symptom also occurs if you are using a desktop computer that has video driver settings that enable the screen orientation to be rotated when you rotate the monitor. You rotate the monitor so that the screen orientation changes from landscape orientation to portrait orientation. When you view a slide show in PowerPoint 2003 or in PowerPoint 2007, the slide show appears in the original screen orientation. The rate of the monitor changes to the lowest supported value for the screen resolution.

To work around this problem in PowerPoint 2003 or in PowerPoint 2007 on a Tablet PC, follow these steps:

1. In PowerPoint 2003, click Set Up Show on the Slide Show menu.
   
   In PowerPoint 2007, click Set Up Slide Show on the Slide Show tab in the Set Up group.
2. In the Slide show resolution box, click the screen resolution that is the closest match to the current screen resolution on the Tablet PC.
   
   For example, if the Tablet PC screen resolution is set to 768 x 1024, click 768 x 1024 (Slowest, Highest Fidelity).
3. Click OK.

Note On some Tablet PCs, you can manually change the screen orientation from portrait orientation to landscape orientation by using either a function key or a dedicated switch or button on the Tablet PC.

If you manually change the screen orientation, the slide show will appear in the correct orientation. You do not have to change the Slide show resolution setting to view the presentation.

Currently, there is no workaround for this problem if you are using a desktop computer that has video driver settings that enable the screen orientation to be rotated when you rotate the monitor.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
