An audio CD that you played does not appear in the Recent Music list under My Music in Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005

SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario. You play an audio CD in Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005. After you play the audio CD, you view the Media Center start page. However, the audio CD does not appear in the Recent Music list under My Music.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 does not add audio CDs to the Recent Music list. Only music that has been copied to the computer and that has been played is added to the Recent Music list.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.

To make an audio CD appear in the Recent Music list, copy the audio CD to the Media Library, and then play the audio that you copied. To copy the audio CD to the Media Library, follow these steps:
  1. Press the green button on the remote control to start Media Center.
  2. Insert the audio CD into the drive.
  3. On the Media Center start page, click My Music.
  4. If you are prompted to add music, click No.
  5. Click Albums.
  6. Right-click the thumbnail of the music CD, and then click Copy CD. When you receive the following message, click Yes:
    Are you sure you want to copy this CD into your Media Library?
