Article ID: 898717 - Last Review: December 4, 2007 - Revision: 4.8 The "Maximum number of VPN clients allowed" value is reset when you install ISA Server 2004 Enterprise Edition and join the server to an existing array
On This PageSYMPTOMSWhen you install Microsoft Internet Security and
Acceleration (ISA) Server 2004, Enterprise Edition, and you join the computer
to an existing ISA Server-based array, the Maximum number of VPN clients allowed value is reset to the default value. Note Typically, the Maximum number of VPN clients allowed value is reset to 5. However, this value is reset to 100 if Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 is installed on the ISA Server-based computer. CAUSEThis problem occurs when you join the ISA Server-based
computer to an existing ISA Server-based array during the installation process.
The SetVPNMaximumClients custom action resets the Maximum number of VPN clients allowed value. RESOLUTIONFor subsequent installations, do not reset the maximum
number of IP addresses. You have to apply the update before you install a new
firewall server. To do this, follow these steps:
