SYMPTOMS

When you start Microsoft Outlook, the Junk E-mail Filter settings are not synchronized with the Junk E-mail Filter level settings on the Hotmail e-mail server. The Outlook Junk E-mail Filter settings may be different from the Junk E-mail Filter level settings on the Hotmail e-mail server.

CAUSE

This issue occurs because the Microsoft Office Outlook Connector does not support the synchronization of the Junk E-mail Filter level settings from the Hotmail e-mail server. The Outlook Junk E-mail Filter settings are independent of the Junk E-mail Filter level settings on the Hotmail e-mail server. The Outlook Junk E-mail Filter settings apply to all e-mail accounts in your profile. However, the Junk E-mail Filter level settings on the Hotmail e-mail server are not affected by the Outlook Junk E-mail Filter settings. The Junk E-mail Filter level settings on the Hotmail e-mail server take precedence over the Outlook Junk E-mail Filter settings for e-mail messages that the Hotmail e-mail account receives.

APPLIES TO
  • Microsoft Office Outlook Connector
  • Microsoft Office Outlook 2003
  • Microsoft Outlook 2002 Standard Edition
