On This PageSYMPTOMSWhen you use Microsoft Windows Media Encoder 9 Series on a server that is running Microsoft Windows Server 2003 with Service Pack 1 (SP1), you may receive the following error message: 0x80004005: Unspecified Error CAUSEWindows Server 2003 SP1 contains the Microsoft Windows Media Format 9.5 Software Development Kit (SDK). The Windows Media Format 9.5 SDK requires an update to maintain compatibility with the earlier codecs. RESOLUTIONHotfix informationA supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that this article describes. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.To resolve this problem, contact Microsoft Product Support Services to obtain the hotfix.
