You receive an error message when you open a Visio 2002 drawing

SYMPTOMS

When you open a Microsoft Visio 2002 drawing in Microsoft Office Visio 2003 or in a later version of Visio, you receive the following error message:
The file was opened but some problems were encountered. Details of the problems were added to the log file.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because Visio updated the XML Schema. In Visio 2002, when you open the file that draws in Visio 2003 or in a later version of Visio, it generates XML warnings.This behavior occurs if the language version of the Visio 2002 drawing differs from the language version of the Microsoft Windows operating system on which Visio 2003 or a later version of Visio is running.

Additionally, Visio 2003 or a later version of Visio updated the XML Schema. Therefore, when you open a Visio 2002 drawing in Visio 2003 or in a later version of Visio, XML warnings are generated.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, follow these steps:
1.Start Visio.
2.On the Tools menu, click Options and then use one of the following procedures, as appropriate for the version of Visio that you are running:
In Microsoft Office Visio 2007, click the Save/Open tab.
In Microsoft Office Visio 2003, click the Save tab.
3.Click to clear the Show file save warnings check box.
4.Click to clear the Show file open warnings check box.
5.Click OK.
