When a Microsoft Works for Windows spreadsheet with charts is opened in Microsoft Excel, the charts are included. There are two ways in which you can delete the chart for Excel and still keep it intact in Works for Windows:

  • Delete the chart in Works before exporting it under a different name.
  • Delete the chart in Excel after exporting it from Works for Windows.

To delete the chart in Works, follow the steps for your version of Works.

Works version 3.0 for Windows and Works 4.0, 4.5 and 4.5a for Windows 95

  1. Open the spreadsheet in Works for Windows.
  2. From the Tool menu select Delete Chart.
  3. Click the chart you want to delete from the list of charts.
  4. Click Delete.
  5. Repeat steps 3-4 to delete additional charts. Click OK when finished.
  6. From the File menu, click Save As and save the file in an Excel 4.0/5.0 SS format.

Works Version 2.0 for Windows

  1. Open the spreadsheet in Works for Windows.
  2. From the Charts menu, click Delete.
  3. Select the chart name.
  4. Click Delete.
  5. Click OK.
  6. Choose Save As from the File menu and save the file as a Works SS file with a different name than the original.
  7. Click OK.
For instructions on deleting the chart in Microsoft Excel, see the "Microsoft Excel User's Guide."
