Consider the following scenario. You install the client for Network File System (NFS) component from Microsoft Windows Services for UNIX 3.5. You change the locale setting by using a service application that calls the setlocale function. In this scenario, when the application impersonates another user by calling the LogonUser API, the locale is set back to the default computer locale.

This problem occurs because the NFS network provider DLL (Nfsnp.dll) resets the locale when the LogonUser API is called.

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.

To apply this software update, you must be running Windows Services for UNIX 3.5. You should only install this software update on a computer that is running Client for NFS.
