Symptoms

When you try to save a revenue input in Microsoft Business Solutions - Forecaster, you receive the following error message:
Parameter Value is Invalid
This problem occurs if the market ID or the product ID contains "XP_".

Resolution

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Microsoft Forecaster 6.7. For more information, visit one of the following Microsoft Web sites, depending on whether you are a partner or a customer:

Status

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section. This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Forecaster 6.7 Service Pack 4.

Steps to reproduce the problem

  1. Create a version:
    1. Click Administration, and then start the Version wizard.
    2. In the Version ID box, type 5B. In the Version Label box, type Benefits. Click Next.
    3. In the year list, click 2005. Click Next.
    4. Accept the defaults for period 1 through period 12. In the period 13 box, type Jan1. Click Next.
    5. Click Finish to complete the wizard.
  2. Create a column set:
    1. Click Setup, and then start the Column Set wizard.
    2. In the Column Set Name box, type B5_13MNTH. Click Next.
    3. Click Monthly Periods, and then click Next.
    4. In the Version to use list, click 5B. Add all the months from the left column to the right column. Click to select the Click to add total column check box. Click Next.
    5. Accept the default in step 3b, and then click Next.
    6. Click Finish to complete the wizard.
  3. Create a line set:
    1. Click Setup, and then start the Line Set wizard.
    2. In the Line Set Name box, type Service. Click Account, and then click Next.
    3. In the ACCOUNT list, click account 21001. Click Next.
    4. Click Finish to complete the wizard.
    5. Click Return to Setup. Open the Line Set worksheet.
    6. In the drop-down list, click Service.
    7. Leave the DEC column blank. For the SHOW column, click X.
  4. Create a second line set:
    1. Click Setup, and then start the Line Set wizard.
    2. In the Line Set Name box, type SVC_PRD. Click Account, and then click Next.
    3. In the ACCOUNT list , click the 21001 account, the Hours account, and the Rate account. Click Next.
    4. Click Finish to complete the wizard.
    5. Click Return to Setup. Open the Line Set worksheet.
    6. In the list, click SVC_PRD.
    7. Format the three lines as follows:
      • For the Hours account, click 1 for the DEC column, and then click F for the SHOW column.
      • For the Rate account, click 2 for the DEC column, and then click F for the SHOW column.
      • For account 21001, leave the DEC column blank, and then click X for the SHOW column.
  5. Create a market:
    1. Click Setup, and then click Planning.
    2. Open the Markets worksheet.
    3. Click Insert, and then insert two new rows.
    4. Format the two rows as follows:
      • In row 1, type REST in the ID column, and type Restoration in the Label column. Leave the REF1, REF2, and REF3 columns blank.
      • In row 2, type TESTXP_XP_ in the ID column, and then type Test in the Label column.
  6. Create a product:
    1. Click Setup, and then click Planning.
    2. Open the Products worksheet.
    3. Click Insert, and then insert two new rows.
    4. Format the two rows as follows:
      • In row 1, type LAB in the ID column. In the Label column, type Hourly. In the Lineset column, type SVC_PRD. In the Calcset column, type SVC_PRD. Leave the REF1, REF2 and REF3 columns blank.
      • In row 2, type XP_TEST in the ID column. In the Label column, type XP_TEST. In the Lineset column, type SVC_PRD. In the Calcset column, type SVC_PRD. Leave the REF1, REF2 and REF3 columns blank.
  7. Create an input set:
    1. Click Administration, and then start the Input Set wizard.
    2. In the Input Set ID box, type 5B13MNTH. Click Next.
    3. In the Line Set list, click SERVICE. In the Column Set list, click B5_13MNTH. Click Next.
    4. In the Version list, click 5B, and then click Next.
    5. Click Finish to complete the wizard.
  8. Click Input, and then click the Center link at the top of the page. In the Center list, click 11010, and then click Return.
  9. Click Revenue Input.
  10. In the market list, click TESTXP_. In the product list, click LAB.
  11. In the HOURS account box, type 100*.
  12. Click Save.
After you save the market, you receive a warning icon in the lower-left corner of Microsoft Internet Explorer. If you double-click the warning icon, you receive the "Parameter Value is Invalid" error message.
