Note The functionality of this hotfix is not included in Microsoft Exchange 2003 Service Pack 2 (SP2). Therefore, if you install Exchange Server 2003 SP2, the behavior will revert to a state that is prior to the hotfix. MORE INFORMATIONA disabled user account that is associated with an Exchange Server 2003 mailbox requires the Associated External Account right together with the msExchMasterAccountSid property for Exchange Server 2003 to successfully perform any one or more of the following actions:
A hotfix is available to change the logic in the Microsoft Exchange Information Store service. After you apply this hotfix, the Microsoft Exchange Information Store service acts as if the msExchMasterAccountSid property is set to the well-known SELF SID value. Therefore, instead of finishing unsuccessfully, the Microsoft Exchange Information Store service uses the objectSid property of the disabled user account. Hotfix informationA supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next software update that contains this hotfix.If the hotfix is available for download, there is a "Hotfix download available" section at the top of this Knowledge Base article.
