SYMPTOMS

When you run an application that calls a Web service, you may receive an error message that is similar to the following:

System.ArgumentException: Only one WebServiceBinding attribute may be specified on type 'XXX.YYY'. Parameter name: type at System.Web.Services.WebServiceBindingReflector.GetAttribute(Type type) at System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapClientType..ctor(Type type) at System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapHttpClientProtocol..ctor()

Note This problem occurs when the application was written by using Microsoft Visual Basic .NET 2003 and the application uses the Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1.

RESOLUTION

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing.
