WinINet ignores the policies that you set when you create a custom administrative template file in Windows XP with Service Pack 2
On This PageSYMPTOMSWhen you create a custom administrative template file to
customize Microsoft Win32 Internet (WinINet) settings on a Microsoft Windows XP
Service Pack 2 (SP2)-based computer, WinINet ignores the policies that you
set. For example, when you define a Group Policy object (GPO) to enable the Use HTTP 1.1 through proxy connections setting, the policy is applied, and the setting is enabled. However, WinINet ignores the policy and continues to use HTTP 1.0 for proxy connections. CAUSEThis problem occurs because WinINet ignores the
Policies registry key
settings under the following registry subkeys: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings RESOLUTIONHotfix informationA supported hotfix is available from Microsoft.
