You receive an "Either there is no default mail client or the current mail client cannot fulfill the messaging request" error message when you try to use the Address Book in Word

SYMPTOMS

When you try to use the Address Book in one of the Microsoft Word programs that are listed in the "Applies to" section, the Address Book does not open. Additionally, you receive the following error message:
Either there is no default mail client or the current mail client cannot fulfill the messaging request. Please run Microsoft Outlook and set it as the default mail client.

CAUSE

This issue may occur if the following conditions are true:
Microsoft Outlook is not set as the default e-mail client on the computer.
You perform one of the following actions in Word:
You click Insert Address on the Envelopes tab or on the Labels tab.

Note To view the Envelopes tab or the Labels tab, point to Letters and Mailings on the Tools menu, and then click Envelopes and Labels.
You click Select from Outlook contacts and then click Next in the Mail Merge Wizard.

Note To start the Mail Merge Wizard, point to Letters and Mailings on the Tools menu, and then click Mail Merge.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, use one of the following methods:
Install one of the Outlook programs that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
Set Outlook as the default e-mail client on the computer. To do this, follow these steps:
1.Start Microsoft Internet Explorer.
2.On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
3.Click the Programs tab.
4.In the E-mail box, click Microsoft Outlook.
5.Click OK to close the Internet Options dialog box.
