While you are using the Xbox 360 console, the power supply light changes from green to orange.

An orange light is illuminated on the power supply for one of two reasons. Either the console is turned off or the power supply is disconnected from the console. This behavior is typical. It indicates that the power supply is in standby.

Even if the console is turned off, the power supply light may still be illuminated orange. This can occur if the power supply cord is not fully inserted into the power socket of the console.

If the power supply light is orange but the console will not turn on, there may be a problem with the console.

Here are some steps that you can use to try to fix the problem. If you cannot fix the problem yourself, please contact Xbox Customer Support by visiting the following Microsoft Web site:

1.	Turn off the Xbox 360 console.
2.	Disconnect the cord that connects the power supply to the console. To do this, follow these steps: a. Unplug the power cord from the wall socket. b. Disconnect the power cord from the console.
3.	Reconnect all the cords, and then try to turn on the console.
4.	If the orange light remains illuminated but the console will still not turn on, try the troubleshooting steps in the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article. The power supply has several built-in safeguards to help prevent damage to either the console or to the power supply itself. The power supply can turn itself off when there is too much current, too much voltage, or too high a temperature. Under these conditions, the light on the power supply will turn from green to orange or to red. Or, the light will turn off. When the power supply light is green, the power supply is working correctly.

To help the power supply work correctly, always try to use the following best practices:

•	Make sure that all ventilation openings in the power supply are free to ventilate.
•	Do not put the power supply on a bed, on a sofa, or on any other soft surface that may block ventilation openings.
•	Do not put the power supply in a confined space, such as a bookcase, a rack, or a stereo cabinet, unless the space is well ventilated.
•	Do not put the power supply on a stereo speaker, an amplifier, or a heat source such as a radiator or a heat register.
•	Plug the power supply directly into a wall outlet. In other words, do not use extension cords or power strips.
